A bachelors degree in nursing equips an individual with knowledge, techniques, procedures and skills for promoting health and teaches them how to care and cure for sick, disabled and injured. It also provides administration of medical and treatment. The 4 year BSN degree is preferred by most nursing organizations and students and has become a pre-requisite for various positions. Generally the first one to two years are spent on general education requirements while the last two to three years are spent on nursing courses.
There are various types of Bachelor Nursing Degree Programs available. The LPN program offers a licensed practicing nurse to attain a BSN degree in just four semesters. The RN degree program is designed for Registered Nurse or someone with associate degree or diploma and who want to complete their BSN degree. It provides the credit for nursing skills that are already learnt through school or work experience.
Another variation of BSN degree program is an accelerated BSN program which allows student to complete the undergraduate nusring course requirements earlier than the traditional BSN program. It usually takes upto 12 months complete.
